
It's always a good idea to print out the instructions
before you get started. Makes life a lot easier when you can refer to a printed
sheet rather than trying to bounce back and forth between screens on your
computer.
IF YOU HAVE WINDOWS 98....
- Click on START, go to SETTINGS, click on CONTROL PANEL
- Double click on INTERNET OPTIONS
- Click on CONNECTIONS
- Click on SETTINGS
- At the bottom of this window, make sure your username is
your complete email address. It should look like your_username@tnh.net
. If you don't see "@tnh.net" after your username, add it.
- Now click on PROPERTIES
- Click on SERVER TYPES at top of screen
- Down near the bottom of this page, towards the right, click
the button for TCP/IP SETTINGS. Yours may simply say SETTINGS.
- There should already be a dot in the line that says
"Server assigned IP address" at the very top of this screen. That
is correct. Go to the middle of the page and click in front of the line that
says "Server assigned Name Server address". This moves the
dot to the correct line and causes all the numbers to become faint or
disappear altogether.
- Click OK at the bottom of the page.
- Click OK again until you are back to Control Panel. Close
Control Panel.
- Email instructions are at the end of this page and are the
same for all versions of Windows.

IF YOU HAVE WINDOWS ME....
- Instructions are exactly the same as for Windows 98, until
you get to Step 7. On your screen, you will click on NETWORKING. All else is
the same, although wording may be slightly different in some spots.

IF YOU HAVE WINDOWS XP OR WINDOWS 2000....
- Instructions are exactly the same as for Windows 98, until
you get to Step 7. On your screen, you will click on NETWORKING.
- Find the line that says "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
There should be a checkmark in front of it. Click on the line one time to
highlight it.
- Click PROPERTIES
- There will already be a dot in front of the line that says
"Obtain IP address automatically". This is correct. Go to
the middle of the page and click in front of the line that says "Obtain
DNS Server address automatically". This will move the dot to the
correct line and will make all the numbers disappear.
- Click OK at the bottom.
- Click OK again until you are back to Control Panel. Close
Control Panel.

OUTLOOK EXPRESS:
- Open Outlook Express.
- Click on TOOLS at the top of the screen
- Click on ACCOUNTS
- Click on the tab labeled MAIL to bring that screen to the
front.
- Click one time on your email account to highlight it, then
click on PROPERTIES.
- Click the tab labeled SERVERS
- Near the center of the screen where it says "Incoming
Mail Server", followed on the next line by "Account Name",
make sure your entire email address is entered here. It should look like your_username@tnh.net
If it doesn't show the part "@tnh.net" , add it. Your email will
not work without this.
- All the way at the bottom of the screen, find the line that
says "My Server requires authentication" and click on that box to
put a checkmark in it.
- Now click APPLY at the bottom of the page.
- Click on CONNECTION
- If there is a checkmark in this box, REMOVE it.
- Click APPLY
- Click OK
- Close the next window
- Close Outlook Express.
- Please note that Outlook Express MUST be restarted before
it will work.
